This is one of the most recognisable shapes in the sky. So named for looking like an old fashioned farming plough, in France the same shape is called "the saucepan". Find it in the north and use the two stars on the edge of the pot of the saucepan to guide you across the sky to the North Star. The plough is not actually a constellation; it forms part of a larger group of stars that make up the constellation of Ursa Major (the Great Bear).
